Reservations for Orientation are available only to certified students (those who have submitted their Enrollment Commitment Deposit). Once your commitment deposit is processed, you will receive an email invitation to sign up for Orientation. If your deposit is processed before April 3, you will receive the invitation after the reservation system is open.
We ask that you do not make travel arrangements to any Orientation event until you have received a confirmation email from the Office of Orientation Programs.
Orientation typically lasts until 5:00 p.m. Plan on being at Orientation until that time. We strongly recommend that you do not make travel plans that require you to leave campus before 5:00 p.m.
Below are the dates for our events. The reservation deadline for an event is 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the date indicated in the far right column, but events may close earlier if they reach capacity.
On-Campus Winter Orientation Events
|December 5||November 15||8%|
|January 3||December 8||5%|
Off-Campus Europe Orientation Event
|Paris, France||November 18||November 3|
This all-day event is for admitted spring freshmen studying at one of our agreement schools:
- American University in Paris
- Franklin University Switzerland
- The American International University in London, Richmond
- John Cabot University, Rome
So that it is located centrally to all four schools, the Europe Orientation is held in Paris, France. Detailed location information will be in the online reservation form and included in your confirmation email.
There is no guest programming at USC Orientation – Europe, however, guests may attend the on-campus orientation on January 3, 2018. Guest reservations for USC Orientation – January 3 are required and will be made during the student reservation process for USC Orientation – Europe.
Regardless of when you attend Orientation, you will have a wide range of courses to choose from. Spaces are opened in courses throughout the registration period. Additionally, course registration is open only to students attending Orientation on that date.
Winter Orientation events are open to all incoming freshmen and include separate, mandatory meetings designed specifically for international students. There is no separate Winter Orientation event for international students.
All new students are expected to participate in Orientation. Your participation is the best way to get ready for your first semester of classes, have all your questions answered and meet other USC students and staff.
However, we understand that extenuating circumstances may prevent you from attending. If you are unable to make it to campus, you will need to make a reservation for the “I Cannot Attend Winter Orientation” option on the Orientation Events page. After you sign up, you will receive information about course registration and Welcome Week.
Our Welcome Week activities, which begin with Move-In Day, will help introduce you to campus life and all the opportunities for you to get involved. Please visit our Welcome Week website for more information.
