Our Online Orientation Experience is designed to help you navigate the beginning of what is bound to be an exciting journey as a student at the University of Southern California. Throughout this process, you will begin to discover what it takes to succeed as a Trojan. USC’s Online Orientation will cover everything from our academic process and expectations to information about safety, campus life and the variety of opportunities available to you at USC.

Be sure to check out our Orientation videos that will introduce you to an array of resources and information to help you acclimate to life as a USC student.

Students must complete the Pre-Registration Checklist on Blackboard before meeting with their academic advisors. The checklist includes:

  • Introduction to Academic Requirements: General educational and departmental requirements that students should be familiar with
  • Instructions for Placement Exams: Including when to take placement exams—only some majors require exams
  • Academic Advising Information: Details on how to prepare for your academic advising appointment
  • Overview of Course Registration: Guidelines and terms to understand for USC course registration

The course registration period for transfer students begins in late July. Once you’ve completed the Pre-Registration Checklist, you will be able to sign up for an online registration timeslot. Your Academic Advisor will help you enroll in the courses recommended for your degree program, but you should remain flexible. Be patient and work with your advisor if a course you want to take is closed.
